To get an idea of the size of this tree look at the cars parked under it.
This tree is in Balboa Park. This tree took my breath away, a lush canopy, massive branches, bark scared with carvings, “Jimmy + Becky” and decades of life. I wanted to climb it. I really wanted to climb it and find that quiet place I used to know. I thought back to the days when I was a little girl and would climb the big Bay tree behind our house. I would climb high into the branches in hopes that no one would find me. Hiding high, almost to the sky or so it seemed to a little girl wanting to escape her little world. Sitting on a branch, away from the noise, and craziness—peace.

Thank you for bringing back such a wonderful memory for me! When I was a child…..like 50+ years ago. I would escape into this very special place of peace by lying under this beautiful, shiny green, expansive Maple Tree in our backyard. Looking through the leaves shimmering in the sunlight, I would watch the clouds and I was sure that I could see heaven!
Isn’t funny how a sight, smell, food, can take us back—-in my case WAYYYYYY back! LOL!
